The MRS team spent last weekend at the seventh run of the Porsche MOBIL1 Supercup in Hockenheim. At the home race of the MRS team Philipp Eng had another guest start at the fastest one make cup. ‘Bill Barazetti’, who is leading the B-championship at the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany, had his debut at the Supercup.


The qualifying on Saturday was affected by capricious weather. Just before the beginning of the training the heaven opened its gates, so that nearly all drivers began the qualifying on wets. Philipp Eng and ‘Bill Barazetti’ decided to go out on wets as well. Near the end of the qualifying the track way drying so that the final result only turned out at the end of the 30 minute session. The MRS team made the right decision at the right time, Philipp Eng could achieve the 11th position in his last lap with only a one second lag on the top. For ‘Bill Barazetti’ it was also a very satisfying result, he reached a starting position in the tenth grid and let eight competitors behind him.

On the race on Sunday finally the sun came out. However just after the start there were several incidents, where unfortunately MRS driver ‘Bill Barazetti’ was involved. ‘Bill’ was hit in the back of his car, spun out of the track and was extremely lucky not to hit the wall. So his first race at the Porsche MOBIL1 Supercup ended after turn 1. For Philipp Eng it went much better. He avoided the accidents smartly and worked his way up in the standings. At the end he reached a good seventh position. “In the two first turns it was a mess, I had to leave the track and lost four positions. But then my pace was very good, I was halfway able to follow the speed of the top and could overtake some drivers. Therefore I was always on a position to attack and I did not have to orient myself behind.”, said Philipp Eng satisfied after the race.

‘Bill Barazetti’: “For the race I had a good feeling. Because of the practice and qualifying results I expected a good pace and I hoped to gain some positions. But then an opponent crashed into my car and then I spun. Then the race was over for me and of course it was a big disappointment. The race weekend had started so promising.”

Karsten Molitor: „We are rather satisfied with the race weekend. Philipp showed a good race, this is very important for his self-confidence, because in the last time he had often been very unlucky. The seventh position is very good. Unfortunately ‘Bill Barazetti’ had bad luck to be eliminated ungentle. However he can be very proud of his performance and his debut in the world’s fastest one made cup, at least the qualifying went very well.”

In addition to the 20th anniversary of the Porsche MOBIL1 Supercup, the MRS team had several guests, who had the possibility to participate in taxi drives in the Porsche GT3 Cup and therefore to profit from some fast laps round the Formula 1 circuit.
