 Toyota Tops the Time Sheets in Brazil / Toyota au sommet de la hiérarchie au Brésil


The overcast weather in Sao Paulo caused a few problems during the two 90-minute Free Practice sessions on Day One of the 6 Hours of Sao Paulo in Brazil. 

While the nr1 Audi R18 e-tron quattro of Andre Lotterer, Benoit Tréluyer and Marcel Fässler was fastest in the rain disrupted first session it was the nr7 Toyota TS030 Hybrid of Alex Wurz and Nicolas Lapierre which ended the day at the top of the time sheets with a time of 1:23.272, finishing 0.438 seconds ahead of the nr2 Audi R18 Ultra of Tom Kristensen, Allan McNish and Lucas Di Grassi, and a further 0.190s ahead of the nr1 Audi R18 e-tron quattro.

The top LMP1 Private Team entry was the nr22 JRM HPD-Honda of David Brabham, Karun Chandhok and Peter Dumbreck, ending the second session just 0.993s slower than the lead car.

In LMP2 the fastest car was the nr23 Signatech Nissan Oreca-Nissan, posting a time that was just 0.003s faster than the nr26 sister car in 8th overall.

In LMGTE Pro the nr77 Team Felbermeyr-Proton Porsche of Marc Lieb and Richard Lietz was the quickest GTE car for almost the whole session but was pushed off the top spot with five minutes to go in the 90-minute session by the nr97 Aston Martin Racing Vantage V8 of Darren Turner and Stefan Mucke, which was 0.4 seconds faster as the chequered flag dropped.

In LMGTE Am it was the nr50 Larbre Competition Chevrolet Corvette of Fernando Rees, Julien Canal and Patrick Bornhauser that led the way for the whole of the Free Practice period and was 1.2 seconds faster than their nearest rival, the nr88 Felbermayr-Proton Porsche of Paolo Ruberti, Gianluca Roda and Christian Ried.

The third and final Free Practice session will take place tomorrow morning at 09:45 (local), with qualifying for the 6 Hours of Sao Paulo taking place tomorrow afternoon, starting at 14:00.  The qualifying sessions can be viewed live on the championship website at www.fiawec.com
