Ingolstadt, July 11, 2011 – Former Rally World Champion Walter Röhrl was

distinguished for his life’s work in Munich on Sunday evening. Munich is also the

venue for a DTM show event this coming weekend.

Great honor: To mark the 10th anniversary of the Bavarian Sport Prize the two-time

Rally World Champion Walter Röhrl was honored for his life’s work on Sunday

evening in Munich. The 64-year old was Audi factory driver between 1984 and 1992.

He won the Rally Monte Carlo with the Audi quattro and raced up the famous Pikes

Peak in the USA in record time. The exceptional driver was also victorious for Audi on

the race track.

Meeting point airport: The “final countdown” has started for the eagerly awaited

DTM premiere at the Munich Olympic Stadium (16/17 July). Audi fans can get in the

mood for the DTM show event on Thursday. Between 12:00 and 14:00 the two Red

Bull drivers Mattias Ekström and Miguel Molina sign autographs at the Munich

Airport Center between Terminals 1 and 2.

Backwards across the line: Stéphane Ortelli and David Hallyday finished second in

both French GT Championship races at Magny-Cours. In race one Ortelli in an Audi

R8 LMS fielded by Audi France attacked the later victor all the way to the flag and

crossed the finish line backwards after a last attack in the final corner. In race two

Ortelli/Hallyday led up to the mandatory pit stop.

Lead defended: Mike Guasch and Matt Bell defended their lead in the British GT

Championship standings. During the fourth race weekend held at Spa-

Francorchamps, Belgium the duo in the Audi R8 LMS entered by United Autosports

finished sixth and fifth. In the overall standings Guasch/Bell lead their closest rivals

by two points.

Still in title race: Mark Eddy is still a hot favorite to win the title following the

Australian GT Championship’s fourth race weekend at Townsville. He finished the

two races in fourth and sixth positions in the Penfold Audi Sport team Audi R8 LMS

and still holds second in the overall classification as a result.

Fight back: In front on an impressive number of spectators at the Nürburgring the

two youngsters Christopher Mies and Luca Ludwig impressed with their fight back

during the ADAC GT Masters staged at the Truck Grand Prix. After retiring on

Saturday they fought from tenth on the grid to third in the ABT Sportsline team’s

Audi R8 LMS on Sunday, before losing the near certain podium finish following an

opponent’s robust maneuver on the last lap.

Test race: With an Audi R8 LMS each the Audi Sport teams Phoenix and WRT

participated in an official test day last Wednesday for the 24-hour race at Spa-

Francorchamps (30/31 July). Christopher Haase, Andrea Piccini and Mike

Rockenfeller recorded the fourth fastest time among the 27 participants in the

process.

Appearance at the House of Lords: Allan McNish and Siegfried Krause, Head of

Procurement and Partnerships at Audi Sport, are among the 300 guests on

Wednesday evening at the summer reception held by the Motor Industry

Association (MIA) at the House of Lords in London. Audi was invited due to its many

years of success with sports prototypes. The illustrious guests representing the

British Government and automotive industry can also admire an Audi R18 TDI.

Far from home: Le Mans record winner Tom Kristensen is in New Zealand from 11

to 19 July. The Audi factory driver who celebrated his 44th birthday last week is

guest at a press launch for the new Audi A6.

A word from ... Mike Rockenfeller

From your point of view how did the test for the 24-hour race at Spa go?

Very good. I drove in the morning and concentrated on set-up work. I hadn’t driven

at Spa-Francorchamps with the Audi R8 LMS since last year, but had already raced

there this year with the R18 TDI. So, I’m already very familiar with the track. We set

the best time in the morning. In the afternoon my team mates Andrea Piccini and

Christopher Haase took over and completed long-runs. All in all both parts went

very well.

The GT3 class is the top class at Spa for the first time. Is this right way?

This is difficult to assess. However, for me as driver of a GT3 car this is obviously a

great thing. It’ll be about overall victory for us. Even though there are plenty of cars

capable of winning I think we have a good chance. Like every other 24-hour race it’ll

be down to getting through without problems. In this respect I think that we are

well positioned with Audi Sport Team Phoenix.

Can you compare the 24-hour races at the Nürburgring and Spa with one another?

Yes and no. To start both races run for the same amount of time and the goal is the

same: to get through the traffic as quickly as possible without technical problems

and without making mistakes. In this respect things shift quite a lot due to the

different pit stop regulations. Refueling and changing tires simultaneously is not

allowed. So, for this reason the possibility of running double stints gains

importance so as to be able to save a possible tire change. Therefore, in Spa it’ll be

more about tactics than at the Nordschleife and about tire management as a result.

What defines the legend of Spa-Francorchamps for you?

To begin with Spa is one of my favorite race tracks. It was a lot of fun to drive it with

the Audi R18 TDI during the ILMS race we used as preparation for the 24 Hours of

Le Mans. A 24-hour race here is, however, not just something special here, even

though it’s incomparable with an absolute highlight like Le Mans. There as many as

20 cars capable of winning on the grid. This indicated the significance of this event.

Ingolstadt, July 8, 2011 – Show event instead of summer break. On July 16 and

17 racing fans can experience a highly special spectacle that has never existed like

this before: At Munich’s Olympic stadium the DTM stars from Audi will compete

against their rivals from Mercedes-Benz – in races featuring a knockout format

and in their original cars from the current DTM season.

At the venue where the soccer teams of FC Bayern München and 1860 München held

their home matches in the German “Bundesliga” until 2005 and that hosted the

Olympic Summer Games in 1972 the roaring sounds of the near 470-hp V8 engines

of the DTM race cars will be heard for the first time. For Martin Tomczyk, Timo

Scheider & company the eagerly awaited DTM debut in Munich will not (yet) be

about scoring championship points. But their ambition to win the prestigious race in

front of their home audience is high.

The track that has been built at Munich’s Olympic stadium during the past few

months is exactly 1.192 kilometers long. In April the grass was removed and the

whole interior of the stadium covered with tarmac. At the beginning of June Audi

racer Filipe Albuquerque at the wheel of the Audi A4 DTM had the opportunity to

explore the circuit which at the time was still provisionally marked by traffic cones.

There was a good reason why one of the three rookies from Audi’s current DTM

squad was chosen to do the reconnaissance run: Last year the Portuguese had won

the “Race of Champions” in Düsseldorf that is also held at a sports arena and

organized by the former Audi factory driver Michèle Mouton. In Düsseldorf

Albuquerque defeated Formula One World Champion Sebastian Vettel, among

others.

Another racer from Audi’s ranks has even won the “Race of Champions” three times:

In 2006 Mattias Ekström triumphed at the Stade de France in Paris, in 2007 at

London’s Wembley Stadium and in 2009 at the “Bird’s Nest” in Beijing where he

defeated Michael Schumacher at the finale. That is why Albuquerque and Ekström

know exactly what the fans can look forward to.

The DTM race in Munich, however, differs from the “Race of Champions” in many

respects. In Munich the drivers are not racing on two separate tracks but on one and

the same circuit. The start and finish are directly next to each other in the opposite

direction so that the spectators can clearly see who is running in front at the end of

each semi-lap.

In addition, the DTM stars will not be driving cars that have been determined by the

drawing of lots but their own DTM race cars. And, last but not least, one pit stop,

respectively, which must be performed by a maximum of six mechanics, is

prescribed as of the quarter-final runs.

Therefore, in addition to the driving skills on the shortest and most winding race

track in DTM history, the swift work of the pit crews will be crucial. This is not a

disadvantage for Audi at all. At four of the five first races of the season Audi Sport

Team Abt Sportsline performed the quickest pit stop for which tire partner Hankook

always presents the winning crew with an award.

It is clear though that aerodynamics and top speed – two fortes of the current Audi

A4 DTM – will play no role at the Olympic Stadium. On the meandering track in

Munich traction and good turn-in behavior will be particularly important.

At two free practice sessions on Friday the Audi drivers will have time to find the

optimum setup for their cars. On Saturday the “race of marques” will be on the

agenda at which the drivers of one brand will first compete against each other.

Then, at the finale, the best Audi and the best Mercedes driver will determine the

day’s winner at two rounds.

On Sunday the best eight drivers of each brand are eligible to run. As of the eighthfinal

Audi will be pitted against Mercedes-Benz in a knockout format.

The fans will get to see 16 of three to five laps each per day. In addition, there will

be a prologue on Saturday and a half-hour warm-up on Sunday. An extensive

supporting program will be offered as well – including commentaries by Atze

Schröder and live music acts by Mando Diao, The Rattles and Kensingten Road.

Tickets for the stands start selling at 29 euros.

ARD’s live broadcast on “Das Erste” on Sunday (July 17) will start with the quarterfinal

at 2 p.m. (local time). On Saturday ARD will also air one and a half hours of live

coverage from Munich.

keep them warm. There are many question marks. Everyone’s starting from scratch.

I suppose that those who can adjust faster than their rivals will be in front.”

motorsport for 35 years but Munich will be very special. We’ve never raced at an

Olympic stadium. There will probably be a large crowd. We’re arriving with two

rookies, although Filipe Albuquerque has already won the Race of Champions. I’m

expecting quite a bit of him in Munich. After all, he’s already defeated Sébastien

Loeb, Sebastian Vettel and Michael Schumacher at the Race of Champions, so he’s

got a lot going for him.”

Ingolstadt, June 16, 2011 – Le Mans record winner Tom Kristensen (43) will make
a comeback in the DTM this coming weekend at the Lausitzring. The Dane replaces
third in the standings Mike Rockenfeller (27) at the wheel of the E-POSTBRIEF
Audi A4 DTM for Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline.
Mike Rockenfeller is recovering quickly but Audi wants to be completely sure that he
has sufficient time to fully regenerate following his heavy accident at the 24 Hours
of Le Mans. “Knowing well that Mike is fighting for the DTM title this year his full
recovery has absolute priority,” says Head of Audi Motorsport Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich.
“After prior consultation with our team doctor I have decided to rest him this
coming weekend and also for the 24 hour race at the Nürburgring for this reason.”
With Tom Kristensen an old hand returns for one race to the Audi Sport Team Abt
Sportsline squad. The eight-time Le Mans winner competed between 2004 and 2009
for Audi in the DTM before concentrating solely on the sport prototype program.
Although he considers the Lausitzring not to be one of his favorite circuits, the Dane
has fond memories of the circuit: he mounted the podium as best Audi driver there
in 2005 and 2006. “Tom K.” has won four DTM races in his career to date.
“First of all I’m sorry for ‘Rocky’ that he will miss this race. I wish him a speedy
recovery. After being out of the DTM for two years it will certainly be very tough to
come back. But when Dr. Ullrich called me it was self-evident for me to help Audi
Sport in this situation,” says the Dane. “I’m looking forward to seeing all the old
friends again and will try to substitute ‘Rocky’ as well as possible.”

VLN: DTM stars expected at the Ring

DTM stars expected at the Ring

The entry list for the 53rd ADAC ACAS H&R Cup race is gradually getting complete. A number of stars from the DTM will join the grid for the fourth round of the VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring and the penultimate possibility to test for the ADAC Zurich 24h Race in June under racing conditions.

Mattias Ekström (Sweden) and Timo Scheider who lives in Austria will start for the Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline in an Audi R8 LMS. They will be supported by Luca Ludwig (Kempten/ Germany) and Christopher Mies (Heiligenhaus/ Germany) as well as Christian Abt (Kempten/ Germany) and Christer Jöns (Ingelheim/ Germany). The latter is a true returnee. The winner of the VLN Junior Trophy in the years 2008 and 2009 is currently competing in the ADAC GT Masters for the team Abt. Scheider has already scored a class win in the endurance racing championship whereas Ekström has so far not yet had any luck at the Nordschleife.

Another Audi works driver from the DTM will be entered by the team H&R Cup to join the grid. Edoardo Mortara (Switzerland) will share the cockpit of the spectacular Golf24 entered by Volkswagen-Motorsport with Patrick Bernhard (Magdeburg/ Germany) and Nicki Thiim (Denmark). Mortara makes his debut in DTM this year. Last year he was dominating the Formula 3 Euro Series and left his marks on the rookie series. Another debut for Mortara now in racing at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. In order to gain straightaway double experience, he is also entered in a Volkswagen Scirocco, together with the current Dakar Rally winner, Nasser Al-Attiyah (Qatar), the triple Formula 1 Grand Prix winner Johnny Herbert (Great Britain) and Bernd Ostmann (Gerlingen/ Germany), chief editor of the Motor Presse Stuttgart.

In addition to the current DTM stars, once again about 500 drivers will be on the entry list of the 53rd ADAC ACAS H&R Cup race, starting from ambitious hobby drivers up to professional race drivers. The start of the race over four hours will be given on 28th May at 12 o’clock exactly. The grid positions will be based on the results achieved in timed practice between 08:30 until 10:00hrs.

Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich (Head of Audi Motorsport): “At the race today we’ve seen a
similar picture as we did yesterday in qualifying. Bruno Spengler was just a little bit
faster. Behind him the whole field was very close together. Mattias (Ekström) and
Timo (Scheider) squeezed the maximum out of their potential. Martin (Tomczyk)
was very quick in his year-old car too. Naturally, the safety car mixed up the situation

“Obviously, winning feels better than anything else. Today we achieved second place
– that’s nearly perfect, but not completely. We had a car to be in contention for
victory – particularly after my good start. But Bruno (Spengler) simply overtook me
flat-out on the outside of turn one alongside the track. I was running flat-out too
but he had more momentum that way and was able to pass me again. I didn’t think
that this was okay. It was the crucial moment of the race because we were almost
equally quick. Toward the end the situation became really exciting once more. A few
turns before the finish something broke on my rear suspension. But this time I was
luckier than in the years before – maybe that’s a good omen for the 2011 season.”

Timo Scheider (AUTO TEST Audi A4 DTM #4), 4th place
“P4 is a result I can live with today. Right at the start I had body contact at the rear
when I was pushed against the car in front of me. As a result, the front of my car
was damaged. At the rear I lost a few flics. That was not helpful for balance. That’s
why I’m pretty happy to have finished in fourth place.”

Martin Tomczyk (Schaeffler Audi A4 DTM #14), 5th place
“We were competitive this weekend from the outset. The driver, the car and the
team – all three of these have always got to fit together. This was definitely the case
here. It was also huge fun to be driving a DTM race again, particularly the overtaking
maneuvers I had. The duel with Maro (Engel) was tough but friendly. I feel that
that’s the way a fight between two rivals in the DTM should be. The duel with Ralf
(Schumacher) was fair too. It was a good start that we can be happy with.”

Oliver Jarvis (Audi Sport performance cars A4 DTM #5), 9th place
“This wasn’t the start I’d been hoping for. We wanted to score points and fight for a
podium position but we finished in ninth place. It was an improvement over our
qualifying performance. But now we’ve got to work hard and make fewer mistakes in
the next race. Hankook have done a good job, but I’ve got to gain a better
understanding of the tires. I’m hoping that we can be stronger at Zandvoort.”

Mike Rockenfeller (E-POSTBRIEF Audi A4 DTM #9), 11th place
“The weekend had started out well. Practice was okay. Position five in qualifying
wasn’t perfect but it was a good starting base. Unfortunately, that doesn’t do you
any good if you go home empty-handed. That’s why my race was disappointing from
start to finish. Nothing seemed to really fit. The main problem: I was much too
slow, which bothers me the most. At the first pit stop something went wrong. The
car wasn’t lowered properly. I also hit the safety car period at an unfortunate point
in time. I had to stop at the red light. A weekend to forget.”

Edoardo Mortara (Playboy Audi A4 DTM #19), 14th place
“My first race in the DTM was marked by many difficulties. But I’m glad to have
finished it. We had communications problems and I wasn’t able to listen to the
team radio. The safety car was on the track when I had to pit, that was a bit
unfortunate. We’ve got to be satisfied. The race was okay. We know that kinds of
problems we had. Without these difficulties we can drive a better race.”

Rahel Frey (Glamour Audi A4 DTM #15), 15th place
“My assessment after the first race is very positive. The teamwork is fantastic, the
guys support me. The race had ups and downs but basically I pulled through and
achieved my goal. I’m happy.”

Miguel Molina (Red Bull Audi A4 DTM #22), 16th place
“The race wasn’t so bad. I started from position eight and fought for seventh place.
After the re-start following the safety car period I was hit and spun so that my race
was over. Now we need to fight for the next race. Fortunately, the next round is
coming up in just two weeks from now.”

Filipe Albuquerque (TV Movie Audi A4 DTM #18), 17th place
“I had a very good start and was able to make up some positions. But then I lost
some places in the commotion. It was very tight, door to door, someone brushed
me. After the safety car period Vietoris touched me, which cost me a lot of time. At
least I did finish the race. It was a very tough race. We collected kilometers. That
was a positive thing here. But we need a lot more speed.”

Hans-Jürgen Abt (Team Director Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline): “This wasn’t bad
for a season opener. It was a tough race. We tried to get everything right. The pit
crew did a superb job. The strategy was perfect too. But Mercedes didn’t make a
single mistake either. Congratulations to Bruno Spengler, he drove a great race.
We’re pleased to see that we’re racing at the same pace and are in contention for
victory. That was not quite the case last year. Therefore, we’re in for an exciting
season.”

Ernst Moser (Team Director Audi Sport Team Phoenix): “An optimal start into the
season. Martin (Tomczyk) was one of the protagonists of this race. He had some
first-class duels. His car was running well. All of our pit stops were very good. At
Martin’s second stop we were even a bit too fast and didn’t get the fuel can off the
car in time. That’s why Martin went out with the fuel can and dropped from fourth
to fifth place. A big ‘well done’ to Martin and the team. I’m also pleased with
Rahel’s (Frey) performance at her first DTM race. She finished in 15th place and
made no mistakes. Naturally, she still needs to become a bit faster. We’re working
on that.”

Arno Zensen (Team Director Audi Sport Team Rosberg): “I was quite happy that we
started among the top ten with one car. Edoardo Mortara’s start was pretty decent.
He came out of the first lap on position nine and did a pretty good job of defending
his place. He was fighting a fair duel with Gary Paffett for a long time. I was pretty
pleased. But then we encountered a communications problem. We didn’t know at
which point in time the radio was still working. When we were trying to call Edoardo
in during the safety car period he couldn’t hear us. He kept on driving, that meant
his race was over. Filipe Albuquerque didn’t have a bad start either but was forced
into the grass. When his tires were dirty he was overtaken and running in the
penultimate position. Then he ran a red light after a pit stop. Although that’s
unfortunate and shouldn’t happen it has happened to others before. Now we’ve got
to close the book on it and continue the performance we showed during the tests.”

Ingolstadt/Hockenheim, May 1, 2011 – 58,000 spectators (throughout the
weekend) at the Hockenheimring saw a thrilling DTM season opener and an
impressive performance by Audi driver Mattias Ekström. Just 73 days after he
broke his left wrist in a sporting accident the Swede clinched second place and
thus a podium result for Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline.
With three Audi A4 DTM cars on the top five positions the brand with the four rings
achieved a clearly better start into the season than last year when not a single Audi
driver mounted the podium. In addition to Mattias Ekström, Timo Scheider and
Martin Tomczyk shone in particular. They saw the checkered flag on positions four
and five, just barely missing the podium.
For many fans, the hero of the race was Mattias Ekström. The Swede had not even
been sure about being able to pull through the entire 37-lap race distance at the
Hockenheimring. But the two-time DTM champion gritted his teeth and brought his
Audi A4 DTM across the finish line as the runner-up. “Toward the end I was
beginning to lose some of the strength in my left hand,” said Ekström. “I’m glad to
have made it.”
The Swede had even taken the lead after a good start but was overtaken on the
outside of the track in turn one by Bruno Spengler. After a safety car period Ekström
did not completely agree with the behavior of the subsequent winner either: “Bruno
hit the brakes before the re-start. He was the quicker driver today, but this type of
thing shouldn’t happen.”
On the last race lap Ekström had another moment of shock: “I felt like I was having
a puncture of the left rear tire and almost had a heart attack. After the race it turned
out that I had a defect on the rear suspension.”
Ekström was able to bring the car safely across the line in a photo finish barely
ahead of Ralf Schumacher who made a mistake on the final lap and was almost
intercepted by Audi driver Timo Scheider. The two-time DTM champion missed the
podium by just 0.671 seconds.
Martin Tomczyk drove a strong race as well. He finished his first run for Audi Sport
Team Phoenix in fifth place and thus as the best driver of a year-old car. Tomczyk
through no fault of his own triggered a safety car period because the fuel can got
stuck on his Audi A4 DTM during the second pit stop and subsequently fell onto the
track.
The safety car period deprived several other drivers of better positions because they
had not yet made their second pit stop – particularly Mike Rockenfeller, who had to
stop for the red light at the pit lane exit and dropped to eleventh place. Edoardo
Mortara (Audi Sport Team Rosberg) as well was thus bumped out of the top ten. His
team-mate Filipe Albuquerque had to sit a drive-through penalty after failing to
notice the red light at the pit lane exit. Before the incident he had been turned
around by a rival in the hairpin.
Miguel Molina was another driver to suffer misfortune. After his mechanics had
worked late into the night replacing the entire cable harness of his Audi A4 after
electronic problems in qualifying. He was running in the points before being
attacked by Gary Paffett and subsequently turned around by Oliver Jarvis in an
unfortunate incident.
A solid performance was shown by Rahel Frey. The young Swiss drove a flawless race
on her DTM debut, which she finished in 15th place.
“Naturally, I’d have been happier with first place,” said Head of Audi Motorsport Dr.
Wolfgang Ullrich after the season opener. “But only one driver can finish at the top.
This time, unfortunately, it wasn’t us. Next time we want to be at the very front.
We’ve fought with our rivals on an equal footing. The opening round has confirmed
that we can expect a very exciting, well-balanced DTM season.”

Ingolstadt, April 28, 2011 – A high-caliber visit is expected at the 2011 DTM
season opener: Rosanna Davison, the daughter of rock legend Chris de Burgh, will
enchant Audi’s guests. In addition, there will be other activities putting the
spotlight on the brand with the four rings at Hockenheim. And the fans staying at
home can look forward to extensive TV coverage.
An international star from Ireland has announced her attendance at the DTM season
opener. Audi will welcome model Rosanna Davison at the Hockenheim race track.
There is no question that the 27-year-old Irishwoman will draw everyone’s eyes to
her. The daughter of rock legend Chris de Burgh was voted Miss World in 2003.
In addition to seeing the human star, visitors can look forward to a number of
automotive stars, with the new Audi Q3 being the focal point of interest. Right after
having made its world debut in Shanghai last Tuesday, the compact-size premium
SUV is now being showcased at Hockenheim. Other cars to make the hearts of fans
beat faster will be the all-new seventh-generation A6 and the 250-kW (340 hp) Audi
RS 3 Sportback.
On Sunday a big parade will thrill the audience at Hockenheim. Just before the DTM
race starts 23 Audi A1 cars will complete a lap around the race track. The German
Sales Organization will hand over the popular compact models to dealerships at the
Audi Drive Away.
AUDI AG’s top management demonstrates keen interest in the DTM season opener.
The four members of the Board of Management, Rupert Stadler (Chairman),
Thomas Sigi (HR and Social Matters), Michael Dick (Technical Development) and
Axel Strotbek (Finance and Organization) as well as Norbert Rank (Works Council
Chairman at the Neckarsulm location) will watch the DTM opener on location.


In the 2011 season the DTM as the most popular touring car series again draws the

Ingolstadt, April 14, 2011 – While Audi produced the fifth million A4 several days
ago, the new season begins for its victorious brother in racing. At Hockenheim on
May 1 the A4 DTM rolls to the grid with proven technology, but with new tires.
2011 is the fourth and final year of racing for the current A4 DTM originally
developed by Audi Sport for the 2008 season under the project name “R14.” The car
evolved to become the “R14 plus” in 2009 after a technical update. Both model
versions are in action again this year, since DTM car technology is frozen since
August 2009. Further developments are prohibited.

While Audi Sport works feverishly in Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm on the internally
labeled “R17” successor complying with the new regulations valid from 2012, the
technicians face a completely different challenge for the 2011 season: They have to
adapt the A4 as well as possible to the tires of new DTM exclusive supplier Hankook,
without being able to change the car’s basic technology.

Audi suffered painfully last season through the significance of the tire’s impact in
the DTM. The new design of the former supplier did not harmonize with the A4 DTM.
The Audi drivers complained about the lack of “feedback” from the front axle and
the rear tires could not be stressed as in the previous years. “Our hands were tied
since the technology is frozen,” remembers Head of Audi Motorsport Dr. Wolfgang
Ullrich uneasily of the 2010 season in which Audi could only win two races after
taking three successive DTM championship titles.

The Audi Sport technicians were justifiably sensitive when in the DTM – just like in
Formula 1 – a change of tire supplier appeared on the agenda. During joint
development tests with the new Korean partner, the primary aim of all parties
involved was to configure a tire for the 2011 season which disadvantaged none of
the competing manufacturers – despite the technology freeze.

Previous test results appear to confirm this goal. “We have to applaud Hankook,”
says Mattias Ekström, DTM Champion in 2004 and 2007. “The company has
designed and produced a tire for the first time for demanding DTM race cars like our
A4 DTM. The tire works very well. Hankook deserve a big compliment.”
Ekström gives good grades for both a fast lap and race distance: “The tire functions
immediately on the first lap in qualifying. In the race we expect excellent durability,
which is why in my opinion the races will be even more exciting. I think the field will
stay much closer together for much longer.

As before in the DTM there is only one tire type for dry conditions, the so-called
“slicks”, and another type for rain. During the pre-season tests the main goal for the
Audi Sport teams Abt Sportsline, Phoenix and Rosberg was to develop the best
possible set-up for qualifying and the race with the new tire – because in view of the
extremely close levels of performance in the DTM optimal use of the tire is the key
to success.

A stony silence exists among the teams and Audi Sport regarding the knowledge
gained over the last few months. Nobody is willing to show their hand before the
season starts. Only so much: “You have to set the car up differently and adapt your
driving style,” says Mattias Ekström. “I’ve managed this very well up to now.”
His team mates’ assessments are similar. If they prove correct then the DTM fans
can look forward to an exciting and close season in which the tires form the
foundation for close competition.

Ingolstadt, April 10, 2011 – Audi showcased itself in the glorious sunshine in
Wiesbaden at the DTM presentation on Sunday. In addition to the factory’s
involvement in the DTM, the Audi privateer teams also made some big
announcements: Some top-class drivers and a first-rate program have been put
together ahead of the start of the season.
Quite a show: Three weeks before the season gets underway, the Audi DTM drivers
put on a great show at the DTM presentation in Wiesbaden. Thousands of
enthusiastic visitors at the Kurhaus in Wiesbaden were treated to thrilling
demonstrations of the A4 DTM, spectacular pit stops, autograph sessions and party
music. Beforehand, the Audi drivers tried out their respective racecars for this year
in test drives on the Lausitzring racetrack.
Packed schedule: On leaving Wiesbaden, Martin Tomczyk headed straight for his
next appearance for Audi. From 2:00 P.M. on Monday, the DTM star will be signing
autographs in Hall 15 of the Miba 2011 trade fair in Ingolstadt.
Audi sports car driver Romain Dumas last weekend took part in the Paris Marathon.
His time was twelve minutes quicker than the year before. He finished in 2254th
position among 4000 competitors in 3h 14m.
Flying Dutchman on board: The United Autosports team has signed another firstclass
professional for the 24 Hours of Spa, namely two-time Indy 500 winner Arie
Luyendyk. Other team members are the former Grand Prix drivers Johnny Herbert,
Stefan Johansson, Mark Blundell, and Eddie Cheever. The Anglo-American team is
entering the endurance race with three Audi R8 LMS.


Attractive supplementary program: This year, Dindo Capello and Marco Bonanomi
are more than just factory drivers in the R18. The two of them are looking forward
to a customer sport program in their native Italy, where Audi Sport Italia has put
together two powerful teams for its two Audi R8 LMS: Capello will be racing with
Alessandro Cicognani, while Bonanomi is pairing up with Andrea Sonvico.
Big GT3 plans for the Belgian Audi Club: The Belgians, who have won twice with the
R8 LMS, are now going international. In addition to defending its title in the Belcar
series, the club has now also set its sights on the Blancpain Endurance Series and
the FIA GT3 Championship, together with the W Racing Team.
DTM star and the R8 LMS: Audi factory driver in the DTM, Filipe Albuquerque, will
once again be taking to the wheel of the Audi R8 LMS for a number of races this
year. Albuquerque of Portugal will support the W Racing Team in the Blancpain
Endurance Series, together with Bert Longin and Stéphane Ortelli.
Guest appearance: Audi racing driver Marcel Fässler will also be lining up at the
opening of the Blancpain Endurance Series in Monza this coming weekend. Fässler
of Switzerland will be in the cockpit of an Audi R8 LMS with Andrea Piccini.
Great start to the season: Bert Longin and Xavier Maassen came second in the first
race of the Belcar Endurance Championship. Driving for the W Racing Team in an
Audi R8 LMS, the Belgian-Dutch duo came in just 26 seconds behind the winning
Porsche after 113 laps of the Zolder circuit.
Straight onto the rostrum: Frenchmen Stéphane Ortelli and David Hallyday of the
W Racing Team celebrated a great start to the 2011 French GT Championship. At
the first racing weekend in Lédenon, they came fourth in the first race and third in
the second race in their Audi R8 LMS.
An interview with ... Rahel Frey
You tried out your new car – the Glamour Audi A4 DTM – properly for the first
time at the beginning of the week. What did you think?
My first impressions are positive. I really feel comfortable in the Audi A4 DTM. It
could have been even better, of course, but it wasn’t an actual race and was just our
first test. Fortunately, I got to familiarize myself with the vehicle both in wet and
dry conditions. The carbon brakes are really quite impressive, I’ve never experienced
anything like them before.

Have you gotten used to how the Audi Sport Team Phoenix operates yet?
I felt very at ease within the team right from the start – it’s like one big family.
Team director Ernst Moser makes sure there is a good ambience. I also get on very
well with my engineer Laurent Fedacou – we simply suit each other. And I have now
had the chance to get to know the mechanics too. So a really good working
relationship is already beginning to take shape.
Your week got underway with the DTM test and finished with the DTM
presentation: How was the Wiesbaden experience for you?
It was basically one big festival with fast and sensational cars, excellent pit stops,
the presentation on stage, music, shows, and vintage cars. And it was all in the
heart of a beautiful city. I think there was something there to make everyone happy.
And I have never given so many autographs in such a short space of time.

Ingolstadt, April 7, 2011 – Still another three weeks before the season starts and
Europe’s most popular touring car race series introduces itself unusually early in
Wiesbaden to the spectators. For the newly formed DTM driver squad it is the first
common public appearance.
Last year 110,000 fans enjoyed the DTM presentation in Wiesbaden. Even more
spectators are expected to the second edition held on Sunday, April 10 from midday
to 6:00 p.m. between Wilhelmstraße and the Kurhaus. All nine Audi DTM drivers are
in Wiesbaden. In addition, Audi, DTM Champions in 2007, 2008 and 2009, has a
great deal to offer fans.
Two Audi A4 DTM cars bring the purest DTM feeling to the streets by entertaining
the public with demonstration laps and doughnuts along the Wilhelmstraße. On
the grid are Timo Scheider’s AUTO TEST Audi A4 DTM and the Red Bull Audi A4 DTM
of Mattias Ekström. Also to be seen and admired on the improvised circuit: the
Audi RS 5 safety car from the DTM. Furthermore, the spectators get to see three
other A4 DTM cars: Mike Rockenfeller’s E Post Brief Audi A4 DTM, the Audi
Performance A4 DTM of Oliver Jarvis and Rahel Frey’s Glamour Audi A4 DTM can be
admired at the exhibition area in front of the Wiesbaden Kurhaus.

The fans can look on in awe as changing four wheels is completed in little more than
three seconds. The Audi collection Truck provides fans with the opportunity to equip
themselves in good time for the season opener at Hockenheim with accessories
from the Audi collection and to get their goods signed directly by the Audi factory
drivers. Last but not least: An Audi parade is never far away at a DTM presentation.

Comments by the Audi drivers before the DTM presentation

Filipe Albuquerque: “Even though I don’t know this event I’m quite excited about it.
Wiesbaden looks wonderful on the photographs. The number of people at the
presentation is unbelievable. It will be my first acquaintance with the DTM fans. I
already know the other Audi drivers from the winter camp. In Wiesbaden I’ll also get
to know our opponents.”
Mattias Ekström: “The presentation is something very special for me. We can really
spend much more time with the fans than we can at the races since there is no hectic
schedule in Wiesbaden. The fans are always positive and they are all happy that the
season is literally just around the corner. I hope the weather is good as it is a
necessity for a great atmosphere.”

Rahel Frey: “I only heard about the event last year from the media. The crowds must
have been enormous. Previously in motorsport I’ve only experienced a really
important presentation at Le Mans. I imagine that there will be a similar public
onrush in Wiesbaden. The fans can rub shoulders with the drivers. It will certainly be
a great event. I’ll introduce myself for the first time to the public there and also be
accepted as DTM driver at the same time.”

Oliver Jarvis: “Wiesbaden was such an amazing event last year that I can hardly wait
to be there again and to appear with the DTM. I was in Wiesbaden for the first time
last year during the presentation. The city is beautiful and the atmosphere was
fantastic. I was lucky enough to be able to drive a show car last year. It was a lot of
fun to drive around immediately in front of the spectators. For us it’s also a great
opportunity to meet the fans and sign autographs in far more relaxing environment
than during a race weekend.”

Miguel Molina: “Wiesbaden was an unusual experience a year ago. Such an
enormous amount of people at a presentation before the season starts – I’ve never
seen anything like it. Impressive! As I used to collect autographs from racing drivers
myself as a small boy, I really like this relaxed atmosphere to meet the people and
to sign autographs before the first race. The presentation is quite simply a
wonderful idea and Wiesbaden is a great city for this.”

Edoardo Mortara: “It’s a fabulous idea by the ITR to organize such an event. I really
like the idea behind it that the DTM is presented to the public in a city center. This is
also an aspect that makes our sport a little more interesting, because when all is
said and done we do actually drive for the fans. We represent automobile
manufacturers and we can be very grateful that people like our sport and support
both us and the car companies.”

Mike Rockenfeller: “The DTM presentation is a very special event to which I enjoy
visiting as much as the races. There is a relaxed atmosphere, you see everybody else,
the drivers are relaxed with one another and the same applies to the contact with
the many fans. It’s always great to use this opportunity and to be in the right frame
of mind for it. We can take care of the fans. I’m really appreciative that so many of
them come to the presentation.”

Timo Scheider: “Wiesbaden is a unique start to the season. Everybody is already
highly motivated and you get an indication of what to expect. There hasn’t been any
contact with fans for months. Now we can sign autographs in a relaxing atmosphere
which is a great thing. It’s just cool to be there. The fact that 110,000 fans came
last year proves just how popular the DTM is and just how the fans around
Wiesbaden can be motivated for such a thing. It’s great that this event is so well
received. It also says a lot about the DTM’s importance among sport fans.”

Martin Tomczyk: “The DTM presentation is generally a great event, and last year
Wiesbaden in particular showed that it was in fact a fantastic event. The weather
played along and there were loads of people there. For everybody concerned this
event now rings in the DTM season, and it will also be the case this year. I’m looking
forward to seeing all the faces again and to enjoy the entire event in a relaxed
atmosphere.”

Ingolstadt, April 4, 2011 – Audi revealed its car designs for the 2011 DTM to
coincide with the official season presentation this coming Sunday in Wiesbaden.
The fans can look forward to a colorful grid since the nine Audi A4 DTM compete
in eight different basic colors from white to shining yellow.
Just like every year, fans of Europe’s most popular touring car race series eagerly
wait to see which colors and designs adorn the DTM cars in the new season. The
waiting has an end as far as the Audi line-up is concerned: The Audi A4 DTM in their
new outfits were already in action during tests and the EuroSpeedway Lausitz.
Fans of Timo Scheider must adapt to something new: Since changing to Audi, the
2008 and 2009 DTM Champion competes for the first time in something other than
a black Audi A4 DTM. The Austrian resident’s car bears the basic color white. Main
sponsor is the monthly magazine “AUTO TEST” published by the Axel Springer Auto
Verlag. In addition, Game Boy inventor Nintendo and Audi Top Service are
represented on Scheider’s A4.
Scheider’s team mate at Audi Sport Team Abt, according to the official entrant’s
name, in the 2011 season is once again the Briton Oliver Jarvis who must also get
used to a new look: His Audi A4 DTM is red and advertises for the high-performance
products of AUDI AG and the Audi Bank.
Mattias Ekström, DTM Champion in 2004 and 2007, joins the grid in the familiar
blue primary color of energy drink manufacturer Red Bull. His new team mate at
Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline, Mike Rockenfeller, gets an Audi A4 DTM in the
classic yellow of the Deutsche Post AG and advertising its product E-POSTBRIEF on
the defending Le Mans winner’s car.

Martin Tomczyk competes in a particularly striking design for Audi Sport Team
Phoenix: The A4 of the Swiss based driver from Rosenheim is luminous yellow at the
front and green at the back – the colors of the Schaeffler product brands LuK and
INA.
Tomczyk’s new team mate Rahel Frey drives a gold colored Audi A4 DTM adorned
with the women’s magazine “Glamour” logo.
The two DTM newcomers Filipe Albuquerque and Edoardo Mortara appear in two
familiar and striking designs for Audi Sport Team Rosberg. Albuquerque drives an
Audi A4 DTM in the light blue of television magazine “TV Movie” published by the
Heinrich-Bauer-Verlag, Mortara a black A4 in the look of men’s magazine “Playboy.”
Miguel Molina, best newcomer in the DTM last year, is a new member of the Red Bull
Junior Team. Apart from extra yellow highlights the Spaniard’s A4 DTM looks exactly
like Mattias Ekström’s car (extra red highlights). As a result, there are two Audi A4
DTM sporting the typical blue Red Bull design on the grid for the first time since
2008.
“With the AUTO TEST magazine and Deutsche Post he have managed to gain two
strong new partners for our DTM program,” explains Head of Audi Motorsport Dr.
Wolfgang Ullrich. “Furthermore, our many trusted partners like Red Bull and the
Schaeffler Group are still on board. This speaks volumes for the Audi brand and the
DTM. I’m sure the fans and especially TV viewers will be particularly pleased that we
bring a very colorful mix of easily identifiable cars to the grid.”
