Reiter confirms Lamborghini entry
Reiter Engineering will take the Lamborghini brand into battle in the 2012 FIA GT1 World Championship after the team confirmed their entry today.
Reiter, overseen by team principal Hans Reiter, will compete with two Lamborghini Gallardo LP 600+s. Reiter said he was pleased to be part of the new-look championship for 2012, the brainchild of SRO Motorsports Group Founder and CEO, Stephane Ratel.
“Stephane worked very hard to achieve his aim of ensuring that the races of this great championship are going to take place all over the world. So it has become a true world championship at a very high level and with top-class cars.
"As a manufacturer, the Asian and Russian markets have become very important for us. The world championship will be a major platform for all parties," Reiter said.
Talks with the drivers will be concluded shortly and names will be announced very soon. However, Dutch pilot Peter Kox who has been working with Reiter Engineering for many years will almost definitely be one of the drivers.
Lamborghini joins Audi (Team WRT), BMW (Vita4One), Ferrari (AF Corse), McLaren (Hexis) and Mercedes (All-Inkl.com Munnich Motorsport) and the confirmed entries to date. Other teams will announce shortly.
