The first day of the newly-created FIA World Endurance Championship went
underway in Sebring today. Lotus LMP2 showed a good performance in all of the
three sessions and could add valuable mileage to its tally.
In the third practice that went off at night the team’s drivers got some experience
under these unusual but exciting conditions. It was a good first day for Lotus LMP2
and the team is looking forward to the upcoming days.
The 60th edition of the 12 Hours of Sebring will start on 17th March at 10:30 am
and will finish at 10:30 pm.
Thomas Holzer, Race Driver #31:
“It was good to be back in the car today and to get some more mileage. With the
data we gained we will prepare the car for tomorrow’s qualifying. I have never
driven at night before and so it was a new but also great experience. Racing at
night is very special and I am looking forward to the next sessions.”
Mirco Schultis, Race Driver #31:
“Even if I was racing at night before it is always exciting. Here in Sebring it is also
very challenging because it is a very bumpy circuit. You have to stay focused all the
time, especially at night. The more laps I can do the more I get used to the car. It
gets better and I am confident that tomorrow will be another good day for us.”
Luca Moro, Race Driver #31:
“I really enjoyed driving today and the car felt good. Now we will work on the setup
and prepare the car for qualifying and the race. I was already racing in Sebring
before, but the night atmosphere is always very special and unique. It is going to be
a tough race but I am looking forward to it.”
