Peugeot managed to overcome a poor qualifying session to win the second round of the 2011 Le Mans Series. Alexander Wurz-Marc Gené-Anthony Davidson drove a perfect race in no.7 and took the chequererd flag in front of the no. 8 908 and the no. 3 Audi R18 TDI. It is Peugeot's fifth win on the trot on the Ardennes circuit.
In LM P2, suspense reigned in the battle between the two Oreca 03-Nissans of TDS Racing, Boutsen Energy Racing and the Strakka Racing HPD ARX-01d. Helped by bullet-proof reliability, TDS Racing finally came out on top to make up for its disappointment at Le Castellet.
Hope Racing scored a brilliant victory in Formula Le Mans leading from start to finish. Nicolas Marroc, who took the start, brought the car home after a great drive.
In the LM GTE category, the suspense lasted till the very end between the AF Corse and Hankook Team Farnbacher Ferrari F458 Italias. Thanks to a perfect strategy, the no. 51 Italian entered F458 of Giancarlo Fisichella and Gianmaria Bruni triumphed with 12 seconds in hand over the German team's car.
IMSA Performance Matmut gave Porsche something to cheer about by winning in LM GTE Am thanks to Raymond Narac and Nicolas Armindo, the latter putting in very quick stints to retake the lead.
Peugeot Sport, the race winner, was also awarded the Michelin Green X Challenge which rewards the best performance for fuel consumption/energy efficiency.
