A Weekend of Entertainment at the WEC 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps / Un week-end de course et de divertissements

With a full grid of 42 cars, Round 2 of the 2012 FIA World Endurance Championship is guaranteed to provide plenty of on track entertainment on Saturday 5 May. However there are plenty of other activities to keep all the family entertained with live music, stunt shows, a Big Wheel, bouncy castles and slides, a fan area with race simulators and much more, with most of the entertainment being available for FREE for all visitors.

The off track entertainment begins on Friday 4 May, with the Big Wheel in operation from 10am and costs €3 per ride.  The FAN AREA will be open from 10am and is situated near Eau Rouge. The Fan Area will feature exhibitions from both past and present and hostesses will be available to answer your questions. There will be information panels about the FIA World Endurance Championship, providing background information and the philosophy behind this exciting new world championship. Visitors can also see a display of photographs detailing the history of the 24 Heures du Mans and other key moments from endurance racing over the years. 

As well as looking at displays, visitors to the Fan Area can also get into the driving seat of one of the race simulators, with the opportunity to test your driving skills on some of the world’s most challenging circuits.

Also on Friday 4 May the VTT Trial Show will have three 30-minute breathtaking demonstrations of urban and off road riding at 11h30, 14h30 and 16h30, with three more shows on Saturday.

On race day (Saturday 5 May) all entertainments areas will be in operation, with the addition of the Paradis de Tigrou, which features bouncy rides to keep the children entertained. Entrance is €6.50 for the whole day.

Visitors can also view a display of some of the most exciting and exotic cars, the majority from manufacturers taking part in the FIA World Endurance Championship.

The live music area starts at 17h00 with the first of four 60-minute performances.  The Blues Brothers by After Night is the first act on stage and they are followed at 18h30 by Supertramp by Logical School.  At 20h00 the penultimate act is The Police by Urgan Police and, after the race has finished at 20h30, the evening is rounded off with a one hour performance by U2 by October at 22h00.

The post race celebrations include a spectacular firework display at 21h00 rounding off what is sure to be an action packed, fun filled weekend for everyone.

On Track Entertainment
The FIA World Endurance Championship has two free practice sessions of one hour and a half each are scheduled on Thursday at 11h45, then to 16h25, giving the teams and drivers time to set up their cars for the tricky Belgian Ardennes circuit.

A third and final free practice session of one hour on Friday 4th May at 10h00, will give competitors a final chance to adjust settings before the twenty minutes of class qualification on Friday afternoon. The LMGTE Pro and Am classes and open the proceedings at 15h10 before giving way to LMP1 and LMP2 at 15h40.

Competitors have a warm-up of twenty minutes on Saturday 5th May beginning at 10h05 before moving on to the pre-grid activities including an autograph session to be held in the pit lane from 12h00 to 13h00, which is open to all spectators. The green flag will drop at 14h30 for the 6 hours of racing.

Spectators can watch two other races as a curtain raiser for the FIA World Endurance Championship. On Saturday morning the second round of the Radical Masters will take place at 9h00 and the Speed ​​Series at 10h45, which features prototypes that serve as a springboard for future stars of the FIA WEC.
